Have you made a list of questions to ask your wedding photographer? Did you even realise you should?
Your wedding day photos will give you a lifetime of memories, which means choosing the perfect wedding photographer should be high on your priority list. To help you in your decision making, we’re sharing some of the best questions to ask your wedding photographer from both our Little White Wedding Planning Pack and our friends at Still Waters Photography.
3 Questions to Ask Your Wedding Photographer
Once you’ve made a short list of the wedding photographers you are both interested in, it’s time to start asking them plenty of questions. This helps you ensure they are a good fit for what you hope your wedding photos will end up looking like, plus how you would like them to manage their work on the day.
As Kate from Still Waters Photography says, “Picking a wedding photographer is kind of like picking a soul mate. You have to want them around on one of the biggest days of your life, feel comfortable pulling silly faces in front of them, be willing to cry when they are around, and you have to be able to let yourself go so they can capture images that truly represent you are as a couple.”
For that reason, feel free to ask as many questions as you want! Here are three for you to start with:
- What is your working style and photography style? Asking this question lets you know whether they are formal or more relaxed in their approach. For instance, if you don’t want to spend hours standing for formal portraits, then learning that this is something they specialise in will raise a red flag for you.
- What packages are available? It can be tricky understanding what photos you’ll receive after your wedding. That makes this one of the key questions to ask your wedding photographer. Some include a set number of high-resolution photos in a package, while others charge per photo. You’ll also find some include physical prints, while others only a digital print.
- Can we provide a list of specific shots? Some wedding photographers like to choose the photos they want to take, within reason. Others want you to make a list of the ones you want done. If there are some photos you absolutely must have, then asking this question will help you decide if they’re the right photographer for your wedding.
These are only three questions to ask your wedding photographer, but if you’re struggling with what other things to ask, we’ve got you covered. Our Little White Wedding Planner Pack worksheets contain around 40 more questions you need to ask your wedding photographer, making it a handy tool for your wedding planning.
